The Off-Season A Cole Classic.

One of the best rappers of the last decade J. Cole aka Jermaine........ Cole (Mark Phillips voice) if you are a true Cole fan you'll know who Mark Phillips is, back to the topic, J. Cole recently dropped an album called The Off-Season and to say it's good would be an understatement. Personally I feel like it wasn't Cole's best but it  definitely was something special, at 36 years of age and an already established name in music industry, he's rapping like he's got something to prove.

The Off-Season reminds me of Cole's earlier work like The Warm Up and even Friday Night Lights, Cole is doing what he does best sometimes even better than others and he's really rapping on this project and also delivering great storytelling. From the first track which is "95. South" to the last track which is "hunger. on. hillside"  Jermaine doesn't miss a step, kind of like LeBron in the NBA Finals in 2020 (ironically Lebron is also 36) and after he dropped the album Cole went to play professional basketball in the  Basketball Africa League for the Rwanda Patriots and even though he is lightskin he wasn't no Steph Curry on the court but he was good and showed lots of potential.

I'm also glad that after so many projects of him not having any features (not that I'm complaining) I was really happy to see him working with other artists such as Bas, 6lack,Morray, 21 Savage and  Lil Baby (I didn't expect Cole and Lil Baby to work so well together I have to say).

The song he did with 21 Savage called "my. life" which is my personal favorite on the project was a masterpiece, Cole and 21 Savage work well together and have amazing chemistry, considering they are totally different artists it's truly wonderful how they gel together, I definitely wouldn't mind a joint project from them.

I also liked that the album wasn't that long, with 12 song, the album is only 39 minutes and 4 seconds long, in a time when artists make long ass albums just to get a high number stream  ,The Off-Season is a breath of fresh air.

While some people weren't feeling the project when it dropped, with some even saying that it's a forgettable album,  for those people there's a couple of bars that Cole says on the song "let. go. my. hand" and it's goes like "I found this instrumental on my phone while on vacation, Ib sent it a year ago or so, I probably heard it before, but slept on it you know, shit don't always connect as soon as you press play, at times you gotta step away and do some living, let time provide a new prescription, givin truer vision". While The Off-Season might not be my favorite Cole album that title belonging to "4 Your Eyez Only", it is definitely a Cole Classic and will be played by people for time to come.
