The Weeknd The Greatest Artist Of Our Time.
After Hours was where my journey began with the artist know as The Weeknd, from the very first moment I heard that album I instantly became a big fan, I mean sure I had heard of him before but there was something about the After Hours album that made me see him in a different light. The After Hours album is one of the few album across all genres that I can listen too without skipping any songs, that's how amazing Abel made the album. After I was done listening to the album I went back to listen to all of The Weeknd's earlier bodies of work such as Trilogy, Kissland, Beauty Behind The Madness, My Dear Melancholy, and Starboy, I was totally blow away by just how amazing all those projects were, I instantly became a member of XO.
One of the many reasons why I like The Weeknd so much is because he isn't scared of being different from other artists, he's unique and he stands out from the pack, which is something I relate too because I've always felt like I was different from others. He's approach to music is something that should be studied in schools because you can't really box Abel into one genre, he can from making an R&B hit, to rapping a little bit when he does features (and believe once The Weeknd gets on your song it's no longer your song), to making songs that have an late 80s, early 90s feel to then and one thing about whatever songs he makes is that it will be a hit. Another thing I've learned and like about The Weeknd is that in every project, including the one he has put out recently, DAWN FM, is the storytelling, it's like every body of work from the first song until the last its one story and in order to understand the story you have listen to all the songs from track no.1 until the last track in the order in which they are placed, that means no putting the album on shuffle or anything like that. The amount of time, resources, energy he puts into promoting each album is amazing, for example, during the After Hours era he spent the whole time dressed in black pants, shirt, tie and red blazer, he even performed everywhere in that outfit even in the Super Bowl. When most artists drop a project, they do the usual album roll-out which is they drop the album, do a couple of interviews to promote the album and a couple of music videos then they are done but with The Weeknd it's different, he promotes an album until he drops the next one, just like he did from when dropped After Hours to Dawn FM.
.
I love all of The Weeknd's projects but my personal favorites that I relate too the most would definitely be After Hours and My Dear Melancholy, . With regards to My Dear Melancholy, The Weeknd was really vulnerable on that project. Everytime I'm feeling heartbroken or just going through it relationship wise, I just listen to that particular project and it helps me to feel a little bit.
I'm very glad that an artist like The Weeknd exists especially for people like me who've always felt like they were different from everyone else, The Weeknd is a perfect example of someone who's totally different from your typical famous artist, from the music he makes to his overall persona, he is so different but at the same time so relatable. I'm definitely happy to be a member of XO and I can't even begin to explain how's listening to The Weeknd has had a huge impact on my life.
