J. Cole and Nomane.

Recently J. Cole created a stir on social media with his song called "Snow On Tha Bluff". People were trying to cancel him for some of the lyrics on the song,he was accused of policing the tone of an female artist who goes by the name of Nomane and he was called  misogynistic amongst other things.  I honestly felt as though people didn't really listen to the whole song thoroughly they heard certain parts of the song and made their own assumptions about what Cole was trying to say. Now this whole started when Nomane tweeted that major artists who's discographies are about black plight weren't doing enough in the wake of George Floyd's murder at the hands of police officers (Even though Cole was out in the streets protesting with people). Many people thought she was talking about artists like Cole and Kendrick Lamar (including Cole himself).

When J. Cole dropped that song in question many people tried cancelling him and really forgot about all the amazing things that the man has done for black people from the empowering songs such as "Be Free", "Love Yourz", "Crooked Smile" amongst many others and full fledged albums such KOD and 4 Your Eyez Only which dive deep into issues that black people face on a daily.

Cole also has the Dreamville Foundation which conducts philanthropic activities such as an annual "Back To School Supply Giveaway" which provides supplies to school children and sponsoring an annual weekend of Fayetteville community events called the "Dreamville Weekend" that features a discussion with the Young Men's Book Club and Appreciation Dinner and a Career Day panel of African-American professionals in different fields. In 2014 Cole purchased his childhood home in Fayetteville and he turned the house into a homestead for single mothers and children to live there rent-free.

In response to J. Cole's song "Snow On Tha Bluff" Nomane released a track called "Song 33" (J.Cole even shared a link to the song), she talks about how Cole writing songs about her shows that his ego is hurt and that with everything thats going on in the US such girls being kidnapped and black people being killed  all Cole could do was make songs about her (which is hypocritical because she doing the same thing) and how she shouldn't be the topic of discussion and Cole is shifting the focus from what's actually important, she was right about a few things on the song I must admit such as how the whole situation is shifting the focus of people from the main thing. The whole thing between Cole and Nomane was really unnecessary and shouldn't have happened in the first place but at the end of the day both artists made valid points and ultimately brought focus and attention to the issues at hand.
