The Importance of the Popcast
I started watching the Popcast hosted by Scoop, Ms Cosmo, DJ Vigilante and DJ Speedsta a couple of months ago and since I stared watching I've definitely learned a lot, not just about music but also about the culture, the business element of the entertainment industry and so much more. That show is a must watch for people who like listening to music, artists who are on the come up, and people who want to get involved in the behind scenes of the music industry.
They cover a variety of topics, they speak what's on their minds, they are honest in their opinions and they don't show any favoritism towards any artist. What I like most about the Popcast is the way they discuss their topics, they have debates in a mature manner, none of the hosts try to be the center of attention, they listen to each other, none of them think they are always right and they also welcome feedback from the general public.
My favorite episode definitely has to be the time they talked about More Career Opportunities in Hip-hop because it showed me that there is more people can do behind the scenes in Hip-hop which can also push the culture forward, not everyone has to be the artist, some of the most important and influential people in music are those who work behind the scenes, people like Cassper's Manager T-Lee and Rafael Benza who owns VTH Season for example . That particular episode showed me that even if you can't be in front of the camera there's plenty of things you can do behind the scenes that are just as fulfilling as being in front.
The Popcast has also introduced me to new artists whom I've never heard of before like Willy Cardiac, Costa Titch and Patrickxxxlee just to name a few. They also offer advice to artists on the come up on how they can do things better so that they can get more and better exposure. They also drop knowledge about how artists who are coming up can avoid some of the bad things that come with being in the music industry such as being ripped off by record labels and music promoters.
The Popcast was definitely needed and it has helped with spreading knowledge and information about the music industry in South Africa.

They have definitely brought attention to the behind the scenes of the industry this is one platform I've been hoping for and to have Scoop as one of the hosts!? Bonus!
