Blaklez- The Tale Of An Amazing Rapper.

Image
AAh Yes (Blaklez's tagline), Blaklez has been in the game for years now and he only gets better with time. He is one of the artists we have in this country that can really rap and paint a vivid picture with his words. I started listening to Blaklez after one of my cousins put me on to his music and that was in 2017,the first song I listened to was "Cool Slaves" and since then I've been hooked on his music. In my opinion he is one of the top tier lyricists we have in South Africa, I can relate to most of the content in his music and at times listening to his music can be very therapeutic. He speaks on topics that most South Africans can relate to and he also talks about challenges that people face, he doesn't shy away from certain topics like most artists do. One thing you must respect about him is his outspokenness,he is not afraid to say what he wants to say irrespective of the consequences it may cause. He dropped an album called "Baby Brother" in...

Touchline The Truth.

Image
I first heard about the artist called Touchline when I saw him perform his song 5 Grand on Live Amp, at the time I have never heard of him but the moment I heard that song I knew I had to find out more about him because that song was amazing. Every black person who was raised by a single parent can relate to that song, he speaks on the hardships and challenges that the youth faces in today's society, he also touches on absent fathers. The 5 Grand song in my opinion is almost like "Love Yourz" by J.Cole, because the songs almost have the same message. Touchline is a lyrical genius, the way he plays with words is just out of this world. His lyrics can make you think and see something in a completely different light, he is one of the best up and coming artists we have in South Africa. He dropped his debut album called "18 Flow" in 2018, in it was an amazing album. He really showed his skills, abilities and diversity on the album. My personal favorites are ,Award S...

Emtee-Manado Album

Image
Emtee's second studio album Manado was really a great project, filled with smash hits. Had that album been marketed right it could have done amazing numbers just like his debut album Avery. He is one of the most gifted we have in South Africa, and his music speaks for itself. Usually when artists have a great debut album their second album isn't as good as their first but in my personal opinion I feel like Manado was a great second album because it showed growth in Emtee's music,it didn't sound the same as his debut album. The  problem for me  was that it wasn't pushed hard enough as it could have been, it was filled with great songs, the music videos for some of the songs was great, Emtee's storytelling was on point and showed another side to him as an artist. My favorite song on the album was the title track called Manado which Emtee was talking about a guy he grew up with who protected him from bullying and was there for him, I enjoy that song because I can...

JR and The Cousins Album.

Image
I honestly can't believe that people slept on that amazing album by JR and The Cousins called "Love Me.....Now". In my opinion that was one of the best albums to drop in 2018, that album was flawless, from the cover artwork to the way the songs was arranged and speaking of the songs JR and The cousins really outdid themselves. They made a masterpiece of an album hands down. On that album JR really showed that he's one of  the best artists we have in South Africa. He's storytelling abilities on the songs are great, himself and the cousins really complemented each other. I enjoy listening to every song on the album,my personal favorites are....Not a Priest, But a Savior (intro), Heartless, Woke Up Alone and 2 Room (featuring Kwesta and Yanga). I didn't even know about a group called The Cousins until I heard this album and I must say they really shined on the album. In my opinion JR is one of the most talented artists in the industry and he doesn't get...

Cassper Nyovest-The game changer

Image
Cassper Nyovest will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest to ever do it,the men has pushed so many boundaries in the SA hip-hop scene . Before him South African hip-hop artists weren't doing the numbers they are doing now, only a selective few were. They weren't getting endorsement deals like they are now and they definitely weren't filling up stadiums. He brought SA hip-hop to the mainstream,at a time when House was the leading genre in South Africa. He took the game to new heights, he didn't do it alone but he was definitely one of the artists leading the pack. Cassper Nyovest is one of the artists who knows how to deal with the business side of the industry, he knows how market himself, sell his music, merchandise and his brand overall. Even though many people won't admit this but most of us started paying attention to SA hip-hop because of him, he brought a whole new vibe and element to the SA hip-hop scene and he pushed the culture forward. With just...
